OUR HISTORY

Souer Co., Ltd. was founded and registered 1987 by Dutch national, Jos Souer with the Authorities of the Kingdom of Thailand and became active in 1988.

Jos’s last assignment with Shell International was at the Sirikit Oilfield in Kamphaeng Phet with Thai Shell Exploration & Production Co., Ltd. (now owned and operated by PTTEP). After his retirement from Shell, Jos wanted to stay active in the business and decided to start his own company. It was his intention to act as a consultant.

Due to his long experience in the industry and having created a large network of good contacts, Jos was approached by some of these contacts to represent them in Thailand and agreements were made with companies such as Waukesha Engine, Hatch & Kirk, Lionweld Kennedy, Smith Valve Controls and Hoerbiger.

To the date, Souer Co., Ltd. still bears the fruits of that accomplishment.

Jos started working out of his house in Phitsanulok, Thailand. With the increase of activities, the company expanded and after approximately one year a move was made to rented premises. Computers were introduced and modern office equipment was purchased. At the same time, in 1989, the first office staff was employed.

In the years to follow activities again expanded. More equipment and staff was added to the portfolio and sales increased. A new move was made to an office close to the previous one.

In January 1996, the workload increased to a point where it became too much for one person to handle and Jos asked a son of friend to come and join him. Danny Pauw started working in August 1996 and helped develop the company.

In 1997, Namtip Duffield was hired. Namtip is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the company and manages the financials and total office administration of Souer.

Souer became more active in the support of the major offshore companies and established itself as a reliable supplier for a wide, selective, range of technical equipment.

The first technical personnel were employed and soon the office became too small. New offices were built and included a small workshop where small engine parts were serviced.

In the beginning of 2004 Souer bought a plot of land and designed a new large office building. The official opening of the new premises was on October 4, 2004.

In 2005 the first attempt was made to start packaging small generators. Souer was awarded a project by CUEL Ltd for the supply of 10 small gensets. After a learning curve this resulted in a competitive and high-quality product.

In the same year, Chevron Offshore Thailand Ltd awarded Souer a contract to build a number of 350 kW gensets.

Because of this new development, Souer completely rebuild their workshop into a modern facility.

The packaging of generator sets is still one of the main business of Souer Co., Ltd.

Efforts are made to expand this further for other applications as well.

Although Jos retired from active duty in October 2008, he still is involved in the development of the company and offers his experienced opinions on all that goes on in the company.

The majority of the company shares were sold to Danny Pauw, who presently is the owner and Managing Director of Souer Co., Ltd.

Over the years, Souer has grown at a steady rate to become a very well-respected name in both the oil and gas industry and local Biogas power generation market, both in Thailand and the neighbouring countries where it provides supports.

Souer developed excellent relationships with both multinational and local oil and gas companies in the South-East Asia region and continued to develop and grow at a steady rate.

In 2016 Souer was awarded the Jenbacher distributorship for Thailand, bringing the complete range of Power and Energy Gas Engines under the Souer portfolio.

In March 2017, Souer moved in their newly constructed, workshop and office complex.

The facility includes an air-conditioned training workshop, training classroom, 2400 m² workshop, 25T overhead crane, paint room, fabrication facilities, soundproofed 1600+ HP engine load test room, electrical workshop for repairs and control panel construction, large spare parts stores and many other features to ensure Souer can meet all of their customer’s requirements for the foreseeable future.
